Meet the team

The OJEFA board of directors consists of six people with nearly 130 years of collective outdoor communications and industry experience.

LeAnn Schmitt

President

LeAnn Schmitt has worked in the government, retail, and nonprofit aspects of the outdoor industry, including as special assistant to the Secretary of the Kansas Department of Parks and Wildlife, marketing manager at Cabela’s in Allen, TX, and currently as the director of partnership development with the Outdoors Tomorrow Foundation.

Most of LeAnn’s professional experience centers on marketing, public relations, and development, but she also has been involved with public policy, strategic planning, and organizational operations management. LeAnn lives in Texas with her husband and daughter.

Mike Giles

Board Memeber

Current SEOPA President Mike Giles is a Bass Pro Shops Pro Staff Member, award-winning wildlife photographer and book author. He has been a columnist for The Meridian (MS) Star newspaper since 1992 and a regular contributor to the Mississippi Sportsman.

As a gifted speaker, Giles promotes positive interaction with youth in the outdoors and urges people to “Imagine the Possibilities” and make a difference in our world.

Hampton Bourne

Board Member

Hampton Bourne is a financial advisor and part-time outdoor writer. The owner of Hampton Bourne Investments has been featured in Ducks Unlimited Magazine, Bassmaster Magazine, and various online markets. Hampton lives with his wife, Kaylyn, and daughter, Dottie, in Nashville, TN.

Craig Lamb

Board Member

Craig Lamb’s career in the sportfishing and outdoor recreation industries spans 40 years. Craig has held management roles in editorial, marketing, communications, and video/TV production for Ranger Boats, B.A.S.S. and ESPN.

He is the senior editor for B.A.S.S. and specifically Bassmaster.com, being responsible for all facets of custom editorial content for advertisers and sponsors, and for special editorial projects. Craig lives in Murfreesboro, TN, with his wife, Janna.

Josh Wolfe

Board Member

Josh Wolfe has spent most of the last decade working in digital marketing. He now heads up his own agency, WolfeCo Media, in Athens, AL.

Emily Strother

Board Member

Emily Strother is a passionate outdoors enthusiast and SEOPA board member who tailored her journalism and communication studies in both her undergraduate and graduate coursework to the outdoors and conservation, which eventually led her to a career in the outdoor industry.

Emily currently resides in Caroline, VA, with her husband Hunter, their house hound Nelli, and their three hunting beagles, Red, Cotton, and Preacher.

Lisa Snuggs

Board Member | CEO

Day-to-day operations of OJEFA will be managed by Lisa Snuggs, longtime executive director of SEOPA. She will oversee all aspects of the foundation’s programs, finances, public relations, and meetings.

As CEO, Snuggs will help lead the board in its mission and explore new ways to bring outdoor communicators and associations together with students, supporters, and the public to work for the common good.
